News filtered through the London network that a 1st summer male Grot finch was showing and singing on Totenham marshes, me and Bradders arrive within half an hour and soon as we get out the car can hear the bird singing.

With an hour passing and a steady stream of London listers arriving we only manage two or three flight views of the very vocal but elusive bird.
